A petitioner had filed a case on the WhatsApp for its new policy, where it forces users to accept its new policy which states that it will share the user data including chats, text, call recording etc with parent company Facebook.

Instead of making better privacy policy for country people, Delhi HC has backed WhatsApp saying ” it’s a private chat company, it’s voluntary, to accept the privacy policy. If you are not willing to accept the new policy, better use different app.”

Delhi HC said that “every app request for user data in privacy, even the Google map and we cannot understand what data has been used by WhatsApp.”

The petitioner has said that new privacy policy has full access to the user’s data and it shares it with Facebook and there is no option of opting out from the policy even it is a voluntary basis. Whereas WhatsApp has provided opt-out for European countries and not in India.

Indian Govt has also talked with Delhi HC regarding this issue and it will be evaluated on 25th of January. This petition will give a clear idea that even Indian govt or Delhi HC are least bothered about the privacy of country people. It’s better to move out of WhatsApp and search for an alternative like Signal or Telegram.
