Samsung Smartphone Shipments Dropped For The First Time In 9 Years

According to the report from South Korea, Samsung may not hit the 300 million shipments mark in 2020. This is the first time in 9 years that the company will fail to ship less than 300 million smartphones. Experts predict that Samsung may only ship about 270 million smartphones.

At the end of the third quarter of 2020, Samsung shipped about 189 million smartphones. And the company aims to hit 307 million targets for 2021.

According to reports, Samsung will unveil a series of low-end 5G phones, after the official release of the Galaxy S21 series. By expanding its mid-range and low-end 5G smartphone lineup Samsung plans to ship 307 million smartphones in 2021. However, out of 307 million, 287 million are smartphones and the rest are feature phones. And 50 million out of 287 million are going to be flagship smartphones.
