New Sony PS5 console shortage continues till March 2021 in India

The hugely popular gaming consoles Sony PS5 went on pre-order in India on January 12. It launched in India on February 2. If you weren’t one of the fortunate few that got the console at launch, then it looks like you will have to wait for some time before the console is officially available in India again.

The console sold out within few minutes without any confirmation on the re-stocking. Now according to a report from IGN India, Sony has told retailers that the PS5 will not be available for the second round of pre-orders before March 2021. There is no specific date mentioned for March though and Sony is banking on the retailers for announcements of their own.

When the stocks that Sony allotted for pre-orders in India instantly sold out, Sony announced that it was surprised and more stocks would follow soon. It said, “PS5 has met with unprecedented enthusiasm by PlayStation fans in India, resulting in a stockout during the pre-order period. Keeping the current situation in mind, we kindly urge all customers to keep their health and safety first and refrain from visiting any retail store to pre-order a PS5. Please stay in touch with retailers for the next pre-order phase.”

While the PS5 launch has been far from smooth with supply issues aplenty and Indian users being unable to play their games as intended, demand for Sony’s latest console and its games in India has been strong. To the point where people have been selling Indian units for close to double the price, much like in the US.

Numerous Sony Centers had previously confirmed that Sony has not shared any plans for restocks in India with them, which seems to have changed now. All potential customers can do now is wait for any news from the retailers who are selling it.
