Mi Notebook ultra Design and Build Quality

They forged the shell of the Mi Notebook Ultra from aluminium and the lid surface has a sandblasted finish.

The polished body of the Mi Notebook Ultra has gone through several machining processes which make it look premium, but the choice of dull colour makes this laptop less aesthetically pleasing.

Well, the taste of design and looks might be different in your case, so we leave that part up to you.

The lid can be lifted with one hand and the robust hinge mechanism ensures that the lid will not wobble that easily under a speedy ceiling fan.

Being a 15-inch machine, this laptop weighs 1.7Kg, which is acceptable and portability will not be an issue. The dome-shaped rubber feet at the bottom keep the laptop firm on a flat surface.

The air intake grille is similar to the Redmi Book Pro. This grille has a slightly larger cut, which allows it to draw more air at once and the single fan inside dissipates the heat through the rear side.

Connectivity Features:

The Mi Notebook Ultra features the following I/O ports:

  • 1 x USB-C port (Normal)
  • 1 x USB-C port/ Thunderbolt 4
  • 1 x USB 3.2 port
  • 1 x USB 2.0 port
  • 1 x HDMI port
  • 3.5mm combo audio jack

Processor and Performance

The Mi Notebook Ultra uses an Intel H-series processor, which stands for high-performance. The CPU inside is an Intel i5 11th generation–11300H quad-core processor with a turbo clock speed of 4.4GHz.

The 8GB DDR4 RAM inside is clocked at 3200MHz and it will carry out single or multiple tasks without breaking a sweat.

You can’t expand the RAM, however, there is a variant with 16GB RAM with the same CPU, but it will cost Rs.5,000 extra.

The 512GB SSD provides a swift OS boot up and application loading. From the storage perspective, it should be enough to store multimedia files and documents.

The Intel integrated Iris Xe GPU is much improved and in your free time, you can enjoy some of the medium-sized games, but keep in mind that the machine is more focused on providing a fruitful everyday performance and not gaming.

Display

The Mi Notebook Ultra sports a 15.6-inch 3.2K 90Hz IPS display with a resolution of 3200 x 2000 pixels.

The panel has a 100% of the sRGB colour gamut and with the Mi Truelife+ technology, the colours of visual and text will appear more vivid and punchy.

The high refresh rate will provide a buttery smooth experience whenever you scroll through web pages or use the laptop casually.

Thanks to those thin bezels, which helps to achieve that massive screen-to-body ratio of 89.1%.With an aspect ratio of 16:10, this display is perfect for work and binge-watching.

You can view 4K videos of YouTube without facing pixilation and the display is bright enough for effortless indoor use.

Miscellaneous

As for the OS, you will get the Windows 10 Home. However, Xiaomi has stated that Windows 11 will be available for this device in the future.

The tenkeyless back-lit keyboard with a scissor mechanism has a key travel distance of 1.5mm, which offers tactile feedback on typing.

The power button of this laptop also doubles up as a fingerprint scanner for quick login.

The trackpad is positioned in the centre and is quite big, so your finger will easily reach and it supports multi-finger gestures flawlessly.

The 720p webcam at the top chin of the display is not the best in class, but under good lighting conditions, you will get decent video quality.

Battery Life

The brand has not mentioned the exact size of the battery but they do claim a backup of 12 hours, which is not possible, to be honest.

Considering the high-quality panel and other hardware of this laptop, the battery will last for up to 5 hours on normal to intense use.

The 65W USB-C power adapter will juice up the laptop battery levels up to 50% in 45 minutes and for the full charge, the time will be around 2–2:15 hours.

Verdict

The Mi Notebook Ultra is for working professionals, media enthusiasts, photo editors, and students.

This machine is a complete package for the price of Rs.60,000. It is well built and has an impressive display and performance.
