What is a Liquid lens?
Liquid lenses are used in industries where the conventional glass lenses wear out soon due to periodical depreciation. To overcome that, a liquid material is the only solution as it can adapt itself to the purpose for which it is used for.
The name itself indicates what will be the exact technology will be. It’s nothing but a single layer of camera lens/ cover that can do multiple tasks i.e a single camera can be transformed into a macro camera and as a telephoto depending on the usage. This can be achieved by implementing a small current upon that liquid to reshape to the desired lens we need. Also, the autofocus will be on the higher side meaning that it can capture subjects easily without any delay.

At the same time, the quality may also be decreased because the amount of light entering is less and the same lens is used for multiple purposes. But by integrating them, the lens will be controlled electronically and image focussing will be speed. So even objects at some distance can also be manually adjusted and focussed clearly.
Why Xiaomi?
Xiaomi is one of the few companies that can come up with innovative technologies even before others. For example, the Mi mix series is the first bezel-less phone that came out commercially. As far as the above technology is considered, all other brands are expected to implement the same.
We may expect this lens to come up soon as the technology is moving at a rapid phase. we may also experience stutters as this is the very first time it is being incorporated in a palm-sized machine.
