Debit and credit cards are on the top list for hackers to gain access to one’s bank account. As the internet is flourishing like a sea in India, cybercrime is also increasing at a faster rate.

Many e-commerce apps and websites ask for “Save card details for the faster future transaction”, and if you have clicked “Yes”, immediately try to remove card details. All the data saved in the e-commerce sites will not be always safe as we have many incidents of data leaks from PayTM, PhonePe, MobiKwik etc.

Hackers steal all the data of customers and sell in the Darkweb, the fraudsters buy all this data to try fishing attacks on data available. Recently 11 Crore MobiKwik Users’ Data Up For Sale In Dark Web, all the personal data including Aadhaar, PAN were exposed on the internet, but the company declined.

A recent survey from a well-known platform LocalCircles has revealed that many people especially Indians don’t follow strict security passwords and save all details in the e-commerce apps or any other third party apps, which are less secure in terms of security.

From the overall 24,000 lists, 63 percent were wen and followed by 27 percent women. 29 percent of people accepted that they have shared the card details and pin with their family and friends. Only 21 percent of people claimed that they have memorized their card number and PIN and never stored in e-commerce apps or third-party apps.

Many also confessed that they save passwords in digital form, emails, Microsoft excel, Google keep. This is the main reason for increasing fishing and cybercrime activities. A week password for email will lead hackers to steal passwords, any malware installed on a PC will give access to hackers to steal all the data.

How to protect yourself from internet frauds

  1. Maintain atleast 8-10 digit passwords including number, letters special characters.
  2. Maintain different passwords for different websites.

  4. Never give access to apps or website to store card details in their database.
  5. Avoid side loading of apps in to your android smartphone, install apps from official website or from approved app stores like, Play store ( for Androids), apple i store (iOS devices).
