WhatsApp has been experimenting with a number of new features in order to improve the user experience. Users may be able to hide their profile images from some undesired people added to their contact list with the latest feature that the messaging app has been sighted testing.

We can currently choose to hide our profile photographs from everyone, all contacts, or nobody. However, WhatsApp may soon add the option “My contacts except…” to the list.

WhatsApp was discovered testing the option to hide their profile images from chosen contacts on the Android beta version of the app, according to WhatsApp features tracker Wabetainfo.

“We presented a screenshot where the new “My contacts except” option for Last Seen could be seen, but we also stated that the same option will be available for Profile Picture and About. There are new hidden tracks concerning this privacy option in the upcoming WhatsApp beta for Android 2.21.21.2 upgrade “according to the report.

The My contacts excluding option was being tried for profile images, but it was also going to be expanded to include Last Seen and About Status updates. WhatsApp had previously been seen testing the functionality on the iOS beta app.

The WhatsApp feature tracker has posted a screenshot of how the feature will appear once it is implemented. You can choose among four options: Everyone, My contacts, My contacts except, and Nobody. If you have a nosy friend or coworker with whom you don’t want to share your updates, you can select the contact except option. You’ll also be able to hide your last seen, profile photo, and other information from all of your contacts.

“When you exclude a contact, the server manages this setting for you, so the contact does not need to utilise an updated version of the app. So, once this option is available for beta testers, you can begin removing contacts right away “as per the article.

It’s vital to know, though, that if you hide your last seen from someone or from the whole public, you won’t be able to see theirs. If you don’t allow them to access your WhatsApp stories or statuses, you won’t be able to see theirs either.

This new privacy option is currently being tested by WhatsApp. In the coming months, we may witness some developments surrounding the release of the stable version. There’s a chance WhatsApp will include the ability to hide profile images from some contacts, as well as other security features.

According to online rumours, this improved privacy function will also be introduced to the Last Seen and Status options in the future. It’s difficult to predict when it will be widely available. However, both the Android and iOS WhatsApp apps will have this and the aforementioned choice. Nonetheless, this new security feature has been eagerly anticipated and will be useful.
