Over the past decade, WhatsApp has grown immensely in popularity, despite some initial privacy concerns. As one of the most widely used encrypted messaging apps available, WhatsApp‘s group feature has become an integral part of the user experience. However, managing groups with over 100 participants can be challenging for admins, who must monitor content and ensure that everything is in order. To address this issue, WhatsApp is reportedly developing a new feature called “admin review,” which will allow group members to flag inappropriate messages or media for review by the admin.

According to WABetaInfo, the new feature will be accessible from the group’s info page, but admins will need to manually turn it on. Once enabled, group members can report content they believe violates the group’s policies, and the admin will receive private reports on the admin review page. From there, the admin has complete control over what action to take, such as deleting the content or removing the user from the group.
While the admin review feature is still in development and not widely available, we believe it will eventually become a vital tool for content moderation in large groups. Given the importance of robust moderation systems in messaging apps with hundreds of users, we anticipate that this feature will eventually make its way into the stable version of WhatsApp, though it may take some time to do so.
