As everyone is aware, the new policy popup was pushed by WhatsApp and forced its users to accepts its policy which says sharing data including chats to Facebook. WA experienced a huge drop in downloads and Signal and Telegram have seen a sudden spike in downloads.

As per the latest reports from Sensor Tower, WA downloads have fallen by 2 million between 5th to 12th January and overall shrank by 10.6 million which is now lesser than Signal and Telegram. Signal accounts for 17.8 million downloads and telegram with 15.7 million downloads and increasing. After this huge impact, WA published full-page advertising in all newspapers claiming that data is safe, which is not the truth. But the Indian Govt still didn’t take any steps regarding this privacy policy by WhatsApp. it will be good if India follows the European policy to protect the data of the country’s people.
