Before the Snapdragon, Mediatek era most of the so-called smartphones are powered by a spreadtrum/Unisoc processor. Later on, these processors got hibernated because of Advanced chipset producers.
Unisoc – A recap
The Unisoc SC9863A (previously Spreadtrum and changed in 2018) is a low-cost octa-core SoC featuring two clusters of eight ARM Cortex-A55 cores. One performance cluster with a clock speed of up to 1.6 GHz and one efficiency cluster with a clock speed of up to 1.2 GHz.

Unisoc has research and development centers in Shanghai, Beijing, Tianjin, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Xiamen, the United States, Finland, and India
The corporation has begun the worldwide rebranding process in India, which it considers to be its most important global market. In the past, they came up with budget-friendly phones with low-end spec, and eventually, they failed. Smartphone manufacturers like Micromax, Lava, Sigma, Karbonn, Gionee are all powered by Unisoc processors.
Unisoc – comeback
Silicon shortage is the most prevailing hot topic that can be seen in every nook and corner. To tackle this situation chipset manufacturers price their chipsets aggressively. Because of this situation, the Unisoc chipset recently announced its partnership with Indian firms like Motorola, Micromax, and Realme in the release of smartphones based on the Unisoc T610 processors targetting the low budget segment.
The Unisoc T610 is an eight-core processor with a pair of Cortex-A77 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores. The ARM GPU is Mali-G52 3-EE.
Recently Micromax launched its Micromax in 2b with Unisoc T610 octa-core processor. An upcoming Nokia tablet with a Unisoc Soc was spotted in geekbench followed by the announcement of the Nokia C20 with Unisoc SC9863a SoC. Both smartphones will be extremely budget-friendly phones. So smartphones with a budget-friendly price bracket won’t be a nightmare now.

They also told that they’ll come with few IoT products, Own smartphones, and intelligent AI devices, Televisions, and a lot more. All these are targeted at Indian markets. Globally they have already launched their phone models on T610, including Honor, Hisense, and Teclast.
One can expect a huge impact in the smartphone industry after the announcement of upcoming low-end budget processors.
