Top 5 Smartphone Brand Market share in Q3, 2021

Apple dropped to second place after shipping 50.4 million units.

According to IDC’s third-quarter projection for worldwide smartphone shipments in 2021, the early-quarter double-digit growth has now peaked. The results are lower than analysts’ predictions of a 2.9 percent drop in Q3 2021. The reduction is attributed to global supply chain challenges, component shortages, and seasonal considerations, according to the research.

Samsung shipped 60.9 million units in Q3 2021, down from 80.4 million in Q3 2020. Its market share fell from 22.7 percent to 20.8 percent year over year, representing a 14.2 percent drop in growth. Xiaomi dropped to third place, with shipments falling from 46.5 million in Q3 2020 to 44.3 million in the same quarter this year. According to IDC, there was a 4.6 percent drop year over year.

Top 5 Smartphone Brands Market share

Samsung maintained its dominance in the worldwide smartphone market in the third quarter, despite a drop in overall shipments, according to IDC. In Q3, the South Korean electronics titan is estimated to have sold 69 million handsets, giving it a market share of 20.8 percent. According to the new data, global smartphone shipments are down 6.7 percent year over year (YoY).

Despite having the largest share of the market, Samsung reported a 14.2 percent drop in shipments year over year. Apple is said to have surpassed Xiaomi to claim second place in the worldwide smartphone market, with a YoY growth rate of 20.8 percent.

In Q3 2021, Vivo and Oppo are said to have shipped 33.3 million and 33.2 million smartphone devices, respectively. Unlike Samsung and Xiaomi, both OEMs experienced positive annual growth. In Q3 2021, Oppo saw yearly growth of 6.8%, while Vivo saw annual growth of 5.8%, according to IDC.

According to IDC, Apple came in second with 50.4 million units shipped in the third quarter of this year, up from 41.7 million in the same quarter last year. Its market share increased significantly from 11.7 percent in Q3 2020 to 15.2 percent in Q3 2021, according to reports.

According to the report, global smartphone shipments totalled 331.2 million in Q3 2021, a YoY decrease from the same time the previous year. According to the report, supply chain issues caused the shipment slowdown, which was particularly evident in regions such as Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan and China) (APeJC). The decreases were less significant in regions such as the United States, Western Europe, and China, which are typically given priority by vendors.
