The Tata Tigor EV is the first electric vehicle to be tested by Global NCAP, and it receives a four-star rating
Automobile pioneer Tata’s attractive sub-four-metre small car is the Tigor. The Tata Tigor is priced below the other compact sedan models since it is in a sub-segment below them. The Tigor has been updated for 2020 and is available in both manual and automatic transmissions. However, the Tigor doesn’t move well and received low interest.
But on August 31, 2021, In India, Tata Motors has unveiled the new Tigor EV. This is the company’s second vehicle to feature Ziptron technology. The Ziptron technology was first offered in Tata Nexon EV.

Tata Tigor EV : Looks and accent
The new Tigor EV is based on the conventional Tigor facelift that was unveiled early last year with a minor upgrade. While it resembles the ICE (internal combustion engine) variant in appearance, there are a few important differences. The gloss black panel with an electric blue accent that replaced the standard grille is the most prominent attraction.
Blue accents can also be found within the Tigor EV’s headlamps and on the 14-inch stylized steel wheels, which have a new design. In comparison to the X-Pres T, the new Tigor EV gets projector headlamps and a reworked fog light housing, as well as integrated LED Daytime Running Lamps in the front bumper
Tata Tigor EV : Interior
The interior of the cabin resembles that of a conventional Tigor. Tata has added blue touches to the interior of the Tigor EV to distinguish it from its petrol-powered sister. For the drive mode selector, the gear lever has been replaced by a rotary dial.
The Tigor EV comes with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car technology (30+ connected car features including voice commands), four speakers and four tweeters, automated climate control, and a digital instrument cluster as standard equipment. Dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, a rear parking camera, and a seat belt reminder are included in the Tigor EV’s safety features.
Tata Tigor EV : Battery and Range
The Tigor EV’s battery pack is a 26kWh Lithium-ion unit that has been rated to IP67 water and dust-proofing standards, along with the electric motor. The Tigor EV has quick charging capabilities and can be charged from 0 to 80 per cent in just 60 minutes. Tata also offers an 8-year or 160,000-kilometer warranty on the battery and motor to give buyers peace of mind. The claimed ARAI range of the Ziptron Tigor EV is 306 kilometres, which is significantly longer than the former model’s 142 kilometres and 213 kilometres for the basic and extended range versions, respectively.

Safety features
While electric vehicles can have technical difficulty when it comes to installing more safety features due to the electric powertrain system, the Tigor EV demonstrates that battery-powered vehicles can improve safety.
With the standard 2 airbags, the Tigor EV has an NCAP crash test rating of 4 stars. Adult (12.00 points out of 17.00) and child (37.24 points out of 49.00) occupant protection receive a 4-star grade. according to the safety rating agency, ‘Other vehicle manufacturers should follow Tata Motors’ lead in improving the safety features of their models, including battery-powered ones.

Pricing and availability
The Tigor EV has a starting price of 12 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). The car comes in three different versions. The XM model is priced at 12.49 lakhs. The XZ+ has a starting price of 13 lakhs. The Tigor EV XZ+ is also available in a two-tone colour scheme, which costs 13.14 lakh.
Tata Motors has begun taking reservations for the new Tigor EV at certain dealerships, with prices starting around 21000 INR. The Tigor EV will be available in two colours: black and white. Daytona Grey and Signature Teal.
