South Korean enterprises are examining their business data to be released ahead of the deadline for reporting data about the semiconductor supply chain to the US government.

Korean semiconductor giants such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix would submit business information, except secret data and sensitive internal information, before the 8th, according to the industry on the 3rd.

“Considering different aspects, we are carefully formulating answers to the request,” Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Kim Ki-Nam remarked on the 26th. In the midst of the global semiconductor crisis, the US government held a video conference on September 24 with global semiconductor companies, requesting details on supply chains such as inventory status, orders, and sales.

The US government apparently supplied a questionnaire with 26 questions ranging from regular information to critical questions about the company’s conditions. Concerns regarding sensitive business information leakage have been raised by Korean semiconductor businesses in response to the request. According to one business source, “the US government’s request for data is not restricted to Korean companies.” “As a result, businesses will submit data at a level at which they can respond.”

Meanwhile, the Korean government has continued to interact with the US government in order to make it easier for businesses to submit business information while also cooperating with the US government. The Korean government intends to discuss bilateral semiconductor supply chain collaboration with the US Department of Commerce as soon as companies finish submitting data.

Moon Sung-Wook, the Minister of Trade, Industry, and Energy will also visit the United States this month to meet with Gina Raimondo, the US Secretary of Commerce.
