Round-up of Apple’s October 2021 Event: New MacBook Pro, AirPods 3, and More Announced

Apple held its second fall event of the year. The virtual event was broadcast live from Apple Park on the Apple website, YouTube, and other platforms. Let’s have a look at the products that were introduced at this event.

New gen Apple airpods

After a lengthy wait, Apple has finally revealed the AirPods 3rd generation, the latest addition to its AirPods collection. The new AirPods will have spatial audio, which will allow users to listen in three dimensions. It features a shorter stem than the AirPods Pro, but it boasts a low distortion driver for crisper audio. The new AirPods are sweat and water-resistant, with a curved design that delivers the direct sound and adaptive EQ.

The AirPods offer a longer battery life, up to 6 hours of listening time. MagSafe and wireless charging are also supported by the new AirPods. They’re available to order now for $179 and will be delivered the following week. The third version of AirPods will cost Rs 18,500 in India

Apple music voice

Along with the new AirPods, Apple announced Apple Music Voice, a new subscription-based music service that would cost Rs. 49 ($4.99 in the US) per month. It will only be available to Siri users who want to listen to Apple Music. Australia, Austria, Canada, China Mainland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, Taiwan, the United States, and the United Kingdom will be among the first nations to offer the new plan. It will be available alongside the existing Individual and Family plans and will be accessible from one user account across all Apple devices.

Apple Mac OS Monterey

Apple announced on Monday that macOS Monterey, the company’s latest operating system for Mac computers, will be released on October 25. The new macOS was unveiled at WWDC 2021 in June and is intended to replace macOS Big Sur, which was released last year. There are several features in macOS Monterey 12 that make it easier to use numerous Apple devices. SharePlay and Focus, which are also accessible on iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, are included as well. In addition, the macOS update adds Universal Control and AirPlay to Mac, enhancing Apple’s Continuity and providing a more consistent experience across Apple devices.

Apple Homepod mini with new shades

The HomePod Mini was released a little over a year ago as a less expensive counterpart of the HomePod, which was a flop. The $99 HomePod Mini has gotten a lot more traction than its larger sibling, which is no longer available. Rather than an update, Apple has introduced three new colours.

The HomePod Mini came in two hues when it was first released last year: Space Gray and White. Now Pre-orders for the speaker in Blue, Yellow, and Orange are available. It’s still $99, and it’ll start shipping in November.

Apple’s new M1 chipsets

The M1 Pro and M1 Max are two new Apple CPUs that power the new MacBook Pro computers. Although each of the new CPUs has ten cores, the M1 Max is the most powerful.

The Apple M1 Pro contains a 10-core CPU (eight high-performance cores and two high-efficiency cores) and a 16-core GPU. It contains 33.7 billion transistors and a memory capacity of 200GB/s, according to Apple.

The Apple M1 Max contains a GPU with up to 32 cores, 400GB/s memory bandwidth, and 57 billion transistors. The M1 Pro may be customised with up to 32GB of unified memory, while the M1 can be configured with up to 64GB

The new CPUs, according to Apple, deliver up to 13x faster graphics, 3.7x faster CPU performance, 11x quicker machine learning, and up to 21 hours of battery life. Apple also says that they are faster and use less power than discrete PC laptop graphics and a compact pro laptop with a high-performance discrete GPU.

New MacBook Pro lineup

Along with these two MacBooks are also announced. There are two sizes of the new MacBook Pro: 14″ and 16″. They both sport a 120Hz ProMotion mini-LED display with smaller bezels and a notch for a 1080p camera, sometimes dubbed as Liquid Retina XDR. Sorry to disappoint you, but Face ID will not be available on MacBooks this year. The 14″ version has a 14.2″ screen with a resolution of 3024 x 1964, while the 16″ version has a 16.2″ screen with a resolution of 3456 x 2234.

While Apple has introduced a notch, the touch bar has been eliminated and replaced with physical keys. There is a MagSafe three-port, however, the laptops can also be charged via one of the Thunderbolt 4 ports. An HDMI port, a headphone jack, and an SDXC card slot are also included.

The latest MacBooks have six speakers with spatial audio (four force-cancelling woofers and two high-performance tweeters). The base variant of the MacBook Pro 14” costs $1999 and has an M1 Pro chipset with an 8-core CPU and 14-core GPU, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of SSD storage. $2499 for the 10-core CPU version with the same RAM, 1TB SSD, and 96W USB-C Power Adapter.

In comparison with the i9 chipset

The base configuration of the 16″ model starts at $2499 and includes a 10-core M1 Pro processor, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD storage, and a 140W USB-C power adapter. For an extra $200, you can get 1TB of storage, and for an extra $1000, you can get the M1 Max with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD. There are a variety of configurations to select from, including models with up to 64GB of RAM.

Silver and Space Gray are the two colours available for both Macbooks. Pre-orders are now open, and the items will be delivered next week.
