Redmi K50 Pro+ could be the first smartphone manufacturer to release a device powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 898 processor. Earlier this year, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer released several smartphones as part of its Redmi K40 line-up.
In India, some of these smartphones were released as part of the Mi 11 series. With the Redmi K50 smartphones, Xiaomi is expected to revamp the Redmi K series in its home market. It could release many smartphones, including the Redmi K50, Redmi K50 Pro, and Redmi K50 Pro+.
Surprisingly, a fresh rumour claims that the Redmi K50 Pro+ would be the first smartphone to use Qualcomm’s forthcoming Snapdragon 898 processor. Qualcomm has yet to reveal the chipset, but whenever it does, it will power a slew of high-end smartphones. The flagship SoC is expected to debut at the Qualcomm Summit in December. Xiaomi may consider bringing this smartphone to India at some time, perhaps under a different brand.
According to the leak, the next Redmi K50 Pro+ will be available in 8GB and 12GB RAM configurations. The Xiaomi K50 Pro+ is also believed to include a 5000 mAh battery. There is no information on charging support at this time, although Xiaomi is expected to offer either 67W or 120W fast charging. Xiaomi appears to be sticking to these two charging standards for its next premium devices.
The main camera sensor on the forthcoming Xiaomi smartphone could have 108 megapixels. A telescopic zoom camera or a periscope camera will be included in the camera system. Xiaomi’s Mi smartphones have previously employed a 48-megapixel telephoto camera sensor. Time will tell whether Xiaomi chooses a high-resolution sensor for the Redmi K50 Pro+ or a standard sensor.
Apart from that, a 120Hz AMOLED display with an optical fingerprint scanner is expected. This is also a departure for Xiaomi, which has long used side-mounted fingerprint scanners on its phones.
It’s worth noting that Xiaomi has yet to confirm the device’s release date or any other details.
