The rise in the pandemic situation made way for the PC/ Laptop market’s to surge at a Himalayan phase. According to new data from the International Data Corporation’s (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Personal Computing Device Tracker, India’s traditional PC market (which includes desktops, notebooks, and workstations) continued to grow in Q1 2021 (January to March), with shipments up 73.1 percent year over year (YoY).
Nowadays most of the popular tech giants introduce products apart from smartphones that usually benefit in another way.
Realme and Xiaomi, for example, are expanding their presence in the Indian laptop market with a new line of laptops based on current-generation hardware and priced to compete with established PC brands.
Lets us compare their latest Mi notebook pro and Realme book slim series. Xiaomi has warmed up the premium laptop market in India with the launch of the Mi Notebook Pro and Ultra, while Realme had just released the Realme Book Slim. Both laptops are priced under Rs. 60,000 and have quality materials and high-end internals.
Realme book slim vs Mi Notebook Pro : Design and build
The Mi Notebook Pro’s chassis is built of 6-series aviation-grade aluminium alloy with a sandblasted texture on top for a smooth feel. Realme, on the other hand, claims to use a high-quality aluminium unibody design to offer the Realme Book a sleek and attractive appearance. Fortunately, both laptops look like Macbooks.
The Realme Book Slim has a thickness of 14.9mm, which is even lower than the Mi Notebook Pro’s 17.3mm. The Mi Notebook Pro is 1.46kg in weight, while the Realme Book Slim is 1.38kg. The Realme Book Slim is slightly lighter than the Mi Notebook Pro, although it’s a small change.

The Mi Notebook Pro has a 14-inch 2.5K display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, 2560 x 1600-pixel resolution, and a 60Hz refresh rate screen display.

The Realme Book Slim, on the other hand, offers a 14-inch 2K screen with a resolution of 2160 x 1440 pixels. The best thing about both laptops is how narrow the bezels around the screen are, resulting in a screen-to-body ratio of over 90 % for the Realme Book Slim and 88 % for the Mi Notebook Pro.
The Mi Notebook Pro has a max brightness of 300 nits, compared to 400 nits for the Realme Book Slim. Obviously, the latter comes with better outdoor visibility.
Although both panels are 60Hz, the Realme Book Slim has a modern 3:2 aspect ratio, and the Mi Notebook Pro has a conventional 16:10 format. So again Realme takes up a lead in a slight manner. Both laptops have their own integrated hardware that can boost colours and enhance the viewing experience. Both have a 720P webcam on top and a fingerprint scanner.
Realme book slim vs Mi Notebook Pro : Processor
Both the laptops come with Intel’s latest generation processors. The Mi Notebook Pro features an Intel H35-series processor with a 10nm manufacturing node. It has an Intel i5-11300H CPU with 4 cores and 8 threads from the 11th generation. The processor’s basic clock speed is 2.6GHz, with a maximum speed of 4.4GHz. The TDP is likewise higher, with a maximum power drain of 35W.
The Intel i5-1135G7 processor is used in the Realme Book Slim. It features four cores and eight threads and is manufactured on the same 10nm technology. However, its base speed is set at 2.4GHz, and turbo boost can increase the CPU frequency to 4.2GHz. In terms of TDP, it can consume up to 25W of power, as opposed to the Mi Notebook Pro’s 35W.
Overall Mi has a slight edge over Realme. since it is a powerful processor the battery drains more compared to Realme. But overall both these laptop processor offers great performance.
Realme book slim vs Mi Notebook Pro : Connectivity
A Type-C port, a Thunderbolt4 port, two USB-A ports, HDMI, and a headphone jack are all included in the Mi Notebook Pro. The Realme Book Slim, on the other hand, lacks an HDMI port and has only one USB-A port, as well as a USB Type-C and Thunderbolt 4 port. When it comes to productivity, an HDMI port is a must, which is a disappointment in the Realme slim book.
Wi-Fi 6 with dual-band support, as well as Bluetooth 5.1 for improved connectivity and quick pairing, are included in the Mi Notebook Pro. In a similar vein, the Realme Book Slim features Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 technology. In terms of wireless connectivity, both laptops perform admirably.

Storage and battery
Mi Notebook Pro comes in i5 11th gen 8GB Ram and 512 GB NVMe SSD, 16GB Ram and 512 GB NVMe SSD and i7 11th gen 16GB Ram and 512 GB NVMe SSD. All the variants come with Intel’s Iris Xe Graphics. In the case of Realme book slim i5 11th gen 8GB Ram along with 512 GB, NVMe SSD is present. There is no i7 variant but a lower i3 (8+256 GB) variant is present.
Both laptops offer 11 hours of battery backup on papers but day to day usage may differ.
Pricing and availability
Mi laptop comes in a single colour, Grey, whereas Realmebook slim comes in Real Gray and Real Blue. The i3 8GB+256GB model of the Realme Book Slim costs Rs 46,999, while the i5 8GB+512GB model costs Rs 59,999. The introductory prices for both variants would be Rs 44,999 and Rs 56,999, respectively and available in Flipkart, Realme stores. In terms of Mi Rs. 56,999 for 8GB+512GB and Rs. 59,999 for 16GB+512GB i5 variant’s and Rs.72,999 for the i7 Variant. It will be available in Mi stores, Amazon.
Overall the Mi notebook pro offers a slight value for money ratio when compared to its rival. It appears to feature a higher build quality, a crisper display, a somewhat faster processor, several ports and other advantages.
