New Upcoming Samsung Galaxy S22 digitally rendered

Samsung will officially unveil the new S-series lineup in three months. Nonetheless, many Galaxy enthusiasts are anticipating the release of the Samsung Galaxy S22 series in early 2022. A base model, a Galaxy S22 Plus, and a new top model in the form of a Galaxy S22 Ultra are all in the works.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra could be the Galaxy Note line’s replacement when the Samsung Galaxy S22 lineup comes next year.

We’ve heard speculations that the S22 Ultra will include an inbuilt pen, eliminating the need to purchase the S Pen separately. Now, a fresh set of renders illustrates how the design could look, complete with a new camera position and smoother edge aesthetic.

The design, which was made by Parvez Khan of Technizo Concept and uploaded by Dutch site Let’s Go Digital, has the same number of lenses and sensors as the Galaxy S22 Ultra, according to speculations. Only in this case, the designer has chosen two distinct camera islands, with the laser AF sensor and second telephoto lens mounted on their strip.

It has a significantly cleaner appearance than other Galaxy S22 models, which have a P-shaped block. And, to be honest, I think it’s a lot closer to what Samsung did with the Galaxy S21 range.

The S21’s contour-cut design, which blended the camera array into the phone’s side, was one of the phone’s design highlights. The array became much more seamless and integrated into the phone’s overall design as a result. A P-shaped island would undermine that effort, whereas the Technizo Concept design’s discrete strips appear to be less striking.

According to Let’s Go Digital, another advantage of this strategy is that it would keep the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s weight down. Given that the Galaxy S21 Ultra weighed in at a whopping 8.08 ounces, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra may have to find room for an included S Pen, this isn’t a minor consideration.

The Technizo Concept shows off the S Pen holster, as well as another expected innovation for the Galaxy S22 lineup: an under-display camera on the front of the phone. The Galaxy Z Fold 3’s under-display camera was underwhelming, and there’s been some speculation about whether Samsung may follow suit with the S22 series.

According to reports, the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s rear cameras will be an enhanced version of the Galaxy S21 Ultra’s 108MP main camera (and not a 200MP sensor as had been previously rumoured). There’s no indication on whether the S21 Ultra’s 12MP ultrawide angle camera or its pair of 10MP telephoto lenses will be improved (one with a 3x zoom, the other with a 10x zoom). According to reports, Samsung is concentrating on software advancements for the S22 cameras, including a continuous zoom capability that eliminates the need for digital corrections.

In the end, we’re still waiting for further official word on the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s design ahead of its launch next year. Neither the p-shaped camera module nor the distinct island approaches proposed by Technizo Concept have been confirmed as the design of Samsung’s next flagship. But if it came down to those two designs, we’d choose the first.
