New Tata Punch officially revealed: Variants, colours and availability

Tata Motors promises that its upcoming Punch micro-SUV will be the safest in the country.

Even though its exteriors and interiors were already unveiled in our previous post, there was still a lot to learn about this new SUV that will compete in its segment against the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Mahindra KUV100 NXT. Finally, Tata Motors has unveiled every piece of information about the impending Punch compact SUV.

The Punch’s interiors are influenced by Altroz in various ways. These include a semi-digital instrument cluster with a 7-inch display unit that shows the current gear position, RPM, fuel level, trip metre, and distance to empty. Its inside will also include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as a Harman sound system.

Tata’s new iRA linked functions are also included. The Tata Punch will also include a flat-bottom steering wheel, square-shaped AC vents, and many drive modes, as well as cruise control and automatic headlamps and wipers. Dual airbags, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD and a camera will be included in the safety equipment.

The new Tata Punch is powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with Dynapro. This is the same engine that powers the Tiago, Tigor, and Altroz, producing 85 horsepower and 113 Nm torque and available with a 5-speed manual or AMT transmission

After the Altroz hatchback, the Tata Punch is the second vehicle to be built on the Agile Light Flexible Advanced (ALFA) architecture. The IMPACT 2.0 idea, which can be seen on new Tata cars, is used to create the exteriors. There are thick plastic claddings all over the small car to make it look like an SUV.

The front features a gloss black grille with split headlamps. Wrap-around tail lights with a tri-arrow LED trademark are found at the rear. The top models will have a two-tone paint scheme and be equipped with contrasting black and silver diamond cut alloy wheels.

Tata Punch Variant’s Explained

Tata Motors is abandoning its typical variant naming scheme, which consists of the letters XE, XM, XT, and XZ. Punch is presently using a new variant naming strategy. Pure, Adventure, Accomplished, and Creative are the names of the punch varieties. Pure is at the bottom, Adventure is above it, Accomplished is above Adventure, and Creative is at the top. The following is a thorough list of Tata Punch’s features, broken down per variation.

The Tata Punch Pure model will only be available with MT, whereas the other variants will be available with both MT and AMT. Customers can choose from a variety of packs that include additional features in addition to the versions. You will be able to select the pack depending on the variant. Rhythm, Dazzle, and IRA are the available packs.

The dimensions will be 3,840mm long, 1,822mm wide, and 1,635mm tall, with a 2,450mm wheelbase. The Punch will therefore be larger than the Maruti Ignis. The new Punch’s door will open at a 90-degree angle, which is another innovation. This is also available on the Tata Altroz in terms of improved entry and egress
