The rumour mill has now moved its emphasis to Google’s first foldable device, Google Pixel fold, following the launch of the Pixel 6 series. According to a recent story, Google will release a new Pixel foldable smartphone next year.
The Google Pixel Fold may release in 2022, contrary to earlier predictions by the end of 2021. However, its cameras may be inferior to those on the Pixel 6 phone.
According to 9to5Google’s investigation into the Google Camera APK code, the Pixel Fold now has a new moniker: Pipit, after previously being known as “Passport.” They displayed the previous codename of the Google foldable tablet in both the Google Camera app and the Android 12 Beta, according to the news site.

However, for some inexplicable reason, the search engine behemoth renamed it Pipit. In the same report, Google also stated that codename changes are nothing new for the Google team, as they did it with a previous Pixel phone after some developments.
As part of its investigation into the Google Camera APK, the news outlet discovered the code “isPixel2022Foldable,” which plainly shows that Google’s first-ever foldable phone may release in 2022.
According to Android Central, Pixel Fold coincides with the rumoured release of Android 12L, a foldable version of the mobile OS, in the first quarter of 2022.
The Google Camera APK code reveals that the future Pixel Fold’s camera sensors are a major drop from the snappers on the company’s most recent flagship, the Pixel 6. The coding reveals that the Pixel Fold will use a 12.2 MP camera sensor that was last seen in the Pixel 3’s aged flagship phone.
If the code is to be believed, the foldable phone’s camera sensor is a long way from the Pixel 6 series’ outstanding primary camera. The Pixel Fold to have a 12MP ultrawide camera, but no telephoto lens.
The foldable Pixel will also include two 8MP IMX355 sensors, one labelled “inner” and the other “outside,” besides the 12.2MP sensor. According to the rumour, the foldable display and the cover display would have these two camera sensors for selfies and video calls.
There’s no sign on whether Google’s first foldable smartphone, like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, would have an under-screen camera.
