Mahindra Thar Global NCAP crash test results are out and it has got 4 stars in adult occupancy as well as child occupancy. This the second car to get a 4-star safety rating for child occupancy whereas the first one is Mahindra XUV300. Mahindra Thar has got a 4-star crash test rating for adult and child occupants.
Global NCAP tested Thar’s ESC according to UN regulation but ESC is not available in the base model. However, Mahindra Thar showed unstable dynamic behaviour. Global NCAP recommends a review and improvement.
The base variant tested for the crash test included 2 airbags. The driver and passenger head and neck had good protection and the chest of the driver lacked and got adequate protection. Passenger side the protection was good. Mahindra Thar’s structure was stable but and the foot level was unstable. The knee area seems to be optimized to reduce considerable injuries.
