Realme management experienced significant changes with India head Madhav Sheth’s departure. Now, it’s been revealed that several top executives and 15 other employees have also left the company. They are expected to join HonorTech, led by Sheth, in India.
Dipesh Punamiya, who was in charge of offline sales at Realme, has become the assistant vice president (AVP) at Honor. Similarly, Sanjeev Kumar, who was responsible for online sales at Realme, has also taken up a senior position in honor. According to sources, more than 15 employees from different departments at Realme have made the move to join HonorTech. Madhav Sheth aims to bring back the Honor brand to life in India through this new venture.
Exciting news is on the horizon, as HonorTech is planning to shake up the Indian smartphone market with the launch of a new device. This is expected to happen around late August or early September, just in time for the festive season.
In the past, the Honor smartphone business belonged to a Chinese company called Huawei. However, in 2020, Huawei sold it to Shenzhen Zhixin New Information Technology Co Ltd, also based in China. Honor made it clear in 2022 that it had no plans to leave the Indian market. The company expanded into the laptop segment in India and introduced a range of wearables.
Despite these changes, Honor still has a significant presence in India, including its service centers, which are essential for providing support to its customers. With people like Dipesh Punamiya and Sanjeev Kumar on board, HonorTech seems ready to make its mark in the Indian smartphone industry.
Madhav Sheth’s exit from Realme
After five years of leading Realme India and building the brand from scratch in the country, Madhav Sheth, the CEO, officially resigned in the month of June. The founder of Realme, Sky Li, will now take charge of the Indian market. Sheth will remain a strategic advisor to the company but plans to start his own export business. He expressed his ongoing support for Realme, saying he will cheer the brand from the sidelines and offer strategic advice for development, global product observations, market insights, and operations.
