Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed in a memo to investors obtained by MacRumors that the iPhone 13 series will include hardware capable of connecting to LEO satellites. If the appropriate software features are activated, iPhone 13 users may be able to make calls and send messages without the usage of a 4G or 5G cellular connection.

Aside from that, Ming-Chi Kuo claims that Apple’s future AR/VR headsets and other gadgets may have LEP satellite communication. Apple is rumoured to be working on a bespoke version of the Qualcomm X60 baseband modem chip to help with communication when there is no local network connectivity.

Due to its impact on the network sector, Kuo believes LEO satellite communication can be compared to mmWave 5G technology. It’s feasible that Apple will deploy both technologies in the future. A specialised team for technology research and development has also been established by the organisation.

It’s unclear whether the feature would solely work with Apple’s messaging apps, like iMessage and FaceTime, or if third-party apps will benefit from the support as well. Nonetheless, Apple has the last say, and we will learn everything in the following weeks.

To “deliver unique experiences,” the corporation is said to have plans to offer LEO satellite communications to more gadgets in the future. According to Kuo, these might include Apple’s mixed reality head-mounted display gadget, electric vehicles, and other IoT accessories.

As we can see from this list, prices for the regular iPhone have been fluctuating with recent releases £999/$999 for the iPhone X£999/$999 for iPhone XS£729/$699 for iPhone 11£799/$799 for iPhone 12 and so the iPhone 13 will be bracketed between these.
