India’s tight control on import from china has made Apple iPhone, Xiaomi devices delay. Since the border clash between India and China, India has become stricter on their imports from China. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has been more strict on controlling the quality clearances for electronic goods from China. As a result, the import of Apple iPhone, Xiaomi devices and many other devices from china has been slowed up according to Reuters.
Initially, within 15 days BIS would give the clearance to electronic goods, but now it’s taking up to two months or even more. When Grate Indian soldiers martyred in a border clash with China, BIS further delayed the clearance of electronics goods from China. Many smartphones, smartwatches, and laptops from China tag were delayed during this border clash.
Boycott Chinese goods
India has also made strict rules for investments from China and banned hundreds of Chinese mobile apps which identity as a major security risk to India. These security risk apps also included major key players like Tencent, Alibaba and ByteDance. Further, India also banned 43 more apps on 24th November 2020.
As per Reuters, Xiaomi and Oppo smartwatch import from China has been delayed. A special license for Xiaomi was denied to import smart TVs, however, Samsung has also faced the same.
Make in India
After this clash, many Indians started boycotting Chinese goods and supported Made in India goods. Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi also supported the Make in India initiate with Atmanirbhar Bharat program. This made Micromax come back to the smartphone market. Even Apple and Samsung planned to start the manufacturing plant in India. Chinese virus also made many manufacturers and big companies move out of China.
