Indian Government bans 43 more Chinese apps

Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has issued a new order to ban 43 more Chinese apps under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act. The list includes 4 apps from the Chinese multinational technology company Alibaba group.

Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said “This action was taken based on the inputs regarding these apps for engaging in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, the security of the state and public order,” in a press release.

The Government is frequently monitoring the apps and their threats to the Indian citizens. The government had banned 59 apps on June 29, 2020, and on September 2 it had banned 118 more Chinese apps under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act.
