It’s pertinent to mention here that the bootloader unlock method for the Xiaomi Devices is the same for all the Android Versions. You have to first apply for the bootloader unlock request, enabling OEM to unlock from the developer option and then finally unlocking using the Mi Unlock tool. Didn’t get it? Steps to unlock Bootloader of the Xiaomi Devices
Warning: Bootloader unlocks, wipes the data/internal storage. So, backup your personal and important files before proceeding.
- First and foremost, visit the MIUI Unlock Website, and fill out the official bootloader unlock request form (requires an MI account). It’d take 7 to 14 days for the Xiaomi team to accept the request.
- When you receive your code, go to Settings > About Phone > tap “MIUI Version” 7 times to unlock Developer Mode.
- Go to Additional Settings > Developer Options > enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking.
- Now download the Mi Unlock Tool and run it as Administrator on your computer.
- Sign into your Mi account in the Mi Unlock Tool, and make sure you are also signed in on your Xiaomi Device with the same account (check in Settings > Mi Unlock Status > Add Account & Device).
- Power-off the device, and reboot into Fastboot Mode (hold Volume Down + Power).
- Connect your Xiaomi Device to the PC via USB, and click the ‘Unlock’ button in Mi Unlock Tool.
- Your Xiaomi Device will be unlocked and factory reset. When the process is finished, you can launch an ADB terminal and check if it was successful by typing: fastboot oem device-info
- If your bootloader was successfully unlocked, the ADB terminal should display “Unlocked”. If not, repeat the procedure once again. It should work unless a serious issue with the device or software itself.
