Full Review on High Tech Ather 450X With Riding Modes

Ather Energy Pvt. Ltd. is an Indian electric vehicle manufacturer along with charging infrastructures. The company’s notable models include Ather 450 and 450X. Ather 450X tends to the updated Ather 450 with improved features in all aspects. The new Ather 450X comes in 3 new colours namely Grey, Green and White. Ather Energy is planning to spread its presence to 40 cities by end of 2021. The company now shifts to a new plant in Hosur in Tamil Nadu with all the operations of 450X and 450 plus will be done.

The Tamil Nadu Electric vehicle policy also includes 100 percent exemption besides stamp duty on electricity tax to EV industry till 31st Dec 2025. Tesla’s Indian entry was a hot talk over a few days and Ather can take up this too.

Ather 450X

Ather 450X specifications

A 2.6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack with an electric motor generating 6 kW/28 Nm is powered in the Ather 450X. It is capable of a 116 km range on a single charge. The engine of the Ather 450X generates 3300 W of power. The Ather 450X comes with both front and rear disc brakes with a hybrid braking (combi braking) mechanism on both wheels. Both Ather 450 and 450X tend to share the same Specifications and comes with top-end features like a 4G supported SIM card with a 1.3 GHz Snapdragon Processor, Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity and a 7-inch touchscreen dashboard with 16M colour and comes with a full LED setup. The bike also comes with a reverse mode and advanced Navigation system with onboard Maps. There is also an under-seat storage and storage clamps too.

The 450X packs more torque and power than the 450 Plus. The 450X’s electric motor produces 6kW (8.04bhp) and 26Nm of power. In 3.3 seconds, it accelerates from 0-40kmph and promises a range of up to 85km. The 450X also has an all-new Warp mode with an improved battery pack and BMS (Battery Management System).

Ather 450X riding modes

4 riding modes have been incorporated in this vehicle namely, Sport, Eco, Ride and Warp.

In sport mode, there is an ample amount of power and torque. A max speed of 80 kmph can be achieved with a battery range of 50-55 km.

In Eco mode both the power and torque is being suppressed and so the battery is saved. A max speed of 50 kmph can be achieved with a battery range of 85-90 km

Owing to the Warp mode, the vehicle unleashes its max power and torque with a very low battery backup. A max speed of 90 kmph can be achieved with a battery range of 40-45 km.

Lastly, there’s a ride mode where the basic power and torque can be achieved. A max speed of 65 kmph can be achieved with a battery range of 70-75 km.

All these riding modes can be shifted on the go without any hassle.

Ather 450X charging

Initially there is a portable charger that can be used to recharge the battery through a 5A socket. The 450X comes with a conventional home charger, Ather Dot. On the other side, Ather Grid facilitates fast charging and can charge up to 80 percent of the battery pack at one kilometre per minute. The charging time also takes somewhere around 5.30 hours to 6 hours depending on the type of chargers used.

The Ather 450X is currently available for pre-order in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Mumbai, and Pune. One can book directly through their official website

In India, the latest Ather 450X was introduced at a starting price of Rs 99,000 (ex-showroom). However, this price only covers the scooter’s ownership and you would also have to select one of the two subscription plans aka “performance packs” for battery leasing. Just in case If you want to pay the full price upfront, excluding the expense of insurance and registration and also include all else owned by the battery. the 450X is available with the Plus and Pro packs at respective prices of Rs 1.49 lakh and Rs 1.59 lakh (both, ex-showroom)

Plus and Pro are the two subscription plans by the company that have been priced at Rs 1,699 and Rs 1,999 per month respectively. They cover the cost of the battery and lifetime flexibility. Moreover, there’s a complementary addition that adds up free public charging, On road assistance and a 3 year warranty period for vehicle and battery.
