Vintage “Solid” Smartphone maker Nokia with HMD Global has come up with many excellent smartphones and more to come as follows. Indian markets l has been flooded with more smartphones from different manufacturers and so the competition is high. To compete them, Nokia has finally come up with its budget-friendly Nokia 5.4, officially teasing it on Flipkart. To recap Nokia 5.4 was announced on December 15, 2020, and now its official launch has been confirmed by Flipkart’s Mobile section. We may also expect it’s younger brother Nokia 3.4 to be launched on the same day.
Nokia 5.4 : Display and Dimensions
The phone weighs around 181g with an 8.7mm thick body. The screen is an IPS LCD Display with a size of 6.39 inch and a resolution of 720 * 1560 pixels. Being a budget device the resolution is low as expected and the brightness level was at 400 nits which is pretty decent. The fingerprint is found at the rear below the camera and the overall glossy back body gets a carbon fibre touch except for the circular camera module. Apart from Punch hole camera, there is a larger bezel at the chin that has Nokia branding on it. There’s no information on Glass protection on top.

Nokia 5.4 : Performance
Powering the device will be an outdated but decent Snapdragon 662 (11Nm 4×2.0 GHz Kryo 260 Gold & 4×1.8 GHz Kryo 260 Silver) chipset with Adreno 610 GPU. The previous Nokia 5.3 also had Snapdragon 665 chipset which is almost similar to Snapdragon 662. Android 10 will be out of the box and guaranteed three-year updates will be provided regardless its a stock android. In terms of connectivity, it has 4G support, WiFi 802, Bluetooth 4.2, aptX, USB type C 2.0 and an NFC (differ with the region) along with all the basic sensors are present. It also houses a dedicated SD card slot and storage won’t be a concern.
Nokia 5.4 : Camera and Video
The device gets a Quad Camera circular Setup with a primary 48MP shooter (f 1/8, wide) with PDAF, a 5 MP (ultrawide), 2 MP (macro) and 2 MP (depth) with LED flash. In terms of video we can shoot up to 4K @ 30 fps and 1080P @ 30fps. The selfie camera is a 16 MP punch hole unit located at the left top corner of the display and can shoot videos at 1080P @ 30 fps.

Nokia 5.4 : Storage, Battery and Audio
Since the device comes with microSDXC Slot, storage won’t be a bigger concern. The base variant 64GB + 4GB RAM, 64GB + 6GB RAM and maxes to 128GB + 4GB RAM. It gets a single speaker with 3.5 mm Headphone Jack. Powering the device is a 4000 maH battery and AI-assisted Adaptive Battery technology which is decent for a phone running with stock android. Unfortunately, there’s slow-fast charging support (10W) and basic charger is provided in the box.
Nokia 5.4 : Pricing and availability
Two colours, namely Polar Night and Dusk are showcased. In terms of pricing the phone starts at $250 which is roughly around 18000/- Indian rupee. Its predecessor, Nokia 5.3 was available at 12000/-. Comparatively, the Nokia 5.4 price is high considering its specs but there’s no official announcement on Indian pricing. The Indian Variant will be a Flipkart’s Exclusive mobile and will be launched from February 10. If the latter pricing is aggressive it can take up the budget segment at ease.
