On Twitter, Signal acknowledged the outage, citing a “hosting issue” as the cause.
A few hours ago you’re not alone if you’re having problems accessing Signal, a privacy-focused communications service.
Due to “technical issues,” the app is currently unavailable to a number of users around the world, including those in India.
Users began reporting problems with the app around 8.30 a.m. on Monday, according to outage monitoring site Downdetector.com (11.05 PM EDT).
The app confirmed the outage on Twitter, blaming it on a “hosting issue” and promising to restore service as quickly as possible.
“Hold on tight, everyone! Due to a hosting issue affecting sections of our service, Signal is currently unavailable. We’re working on getting it up and running again “On Twitter, the corporation expressed its dissatisfaction with the situation.
Signal experienced a global outage in January amid a boom in downloads as users looked for alternatives to WhatsApp after the Facebook-owned messaging service issued a controversial privacy policy that sparked a privacy discussion in India and elsewhere. Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, also endorsed the app, encouraging his fans to download it.
Later this day Signal has announced on Twitter that the service is now available to all of its customers.
