Customers of SBI beware! Installing these four apps on your phone may end in vain

The nation’s top banking institution has issued a warning as the number of similar incidents continues to rise.

In the face of increasing incidences of banking and loan fraud, SBI has been encouraging consumers to follow specific standards. Customers must exercise extreme caution when conducting transactions; yet, even when safeguards are taken, fraudsters may gain access to your account information and syphon off your hard-earned money.

Cybercrimes have been potentially increased during this pandemic situation and even expert bankers sometimes lose with them.

On September 07, According to Hindustan Times sister website Live Hindustan, the State Bank of India (SBI) has warned its consumers against using four apps because they risk having their bank accounts “emptied.” At least 150 SBI clients have lost more than 70 lakh in the last four months after being persuaded to download these apps by people who turned out to be fraudsters, according to the bank.

As the number of such occurrences grows, the country’s largest bank has issued a warning to its customers not to install the following apps on their phones under any circumstances: Anydesk, Quick Support, Teamviewer, and Mingleview.

SBI has also advised its account holders to be cautious when utilising the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), and not to accept UPI collect requests or QR codes from unfamiliar sources.

Customers are also advised not to utilise unknown websites when looking for the bank’s helpline or customer service number, according to the bank. This, according to the SBI, is because multiple bogus websites are being operated in its name. “Customers should only use our official website for any solution, and share any information only after thoroughly ensuring that they are on the correct page,” the bank stated.

“An SMS is delivered to the customer after each digital transaction. It goes on to say that if they don’t complete the transaction, they should forward the message to the number provided in the SMS.

SBI account holders can contact customer service at 1800111109, 9449112211, and 08026599990 in the event of fraud, while the number 155260 can be used to report a cybercrime to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
