According to The National Interest magazine, the report had confirmed that the Chinese govt is spying on the African Union. The AU’s Internet and Communication Technology (ICT) system was also provided by Huawei, whose equipment can easily traceable and hacked by Chinese hackers. China has many reasons to take advantage of the spying on AU. They can easily get access to the sensitive information conversations with other countries.
According to The National Interest report, many of their countries face a massive infrastructure gap, and the Chinese government is often happy to spend money on infrastructure projects. Affordable Chinese products, especially tech such as smartphones, are popular on the continent as well.
