Italy officials said that the US tech giant Apple did not make it clear that water-resistant properties exist under certain specific provisions prominently in laboratory tests with static and pure water, and not under ordinary conditions of use.
The water resistance feature misled to the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone 11, iPhone 11pro, and iPhone 11 pro Max models. Apple also refused to provide warranty service when the iPhone models concerned were damaged by liquids. This made authorities to impose a huge fine on Apple. The authority has decided to impose penalties accounting for EUR10 million (roughly Rs. 90 crores) on Apple Distribution International and Apple Italia.
