All New Yamaha R15 V4 And R15 M Launched? Worth An Update?

Although the Yamaha R15M is mostly focused on aesthetic improvements, it also includes functional changes such as USD forks

Images of a Yamaha-badged disguised test bike surfaced on the internet recently and went viral. This has sparked suspicion that Yamaha is planning to launch a new version of the R15 in India. Version 3.0 is the current Yamaha R15 model. Yamaha is rumoured to be intending to release the R15 under the Verison 4.0 brand. However, according to the most recent type-approval documents, the new model could be known as the Yamaha R15M, which in turn launched as a top-of-the-line R15 variant.

On September 21, 2021 (today), Yamaha Motor India launched the new-generation Yamaha R15 V4 in the Indian market. The R15 has always been a popular motorcycle in the country, and the third-generation model is no exception. Yamaha is expected to disrupt the entry-level sports motorbike category in India with the debut of the new fourth-generation R15. The sportier ‘M’ top-line model of the motorcycle was also introduced in the country this time.

Yamaha R15 V4 / R15 M variants have begun to arrive at dealerships ahead of its launch. Yamaha Blue and Silver are the two colour options for the bike. Previously, the R15M was seen in MotoGP livery, complete with Monster Energy logos on the front and side panels. Thunder Grey, Metallic Red, Dark Knight, and Racing Blue are the colour options for the basic R15.

The look of the R15M is inspired by Yamaha’s flagship R1M. Some specific characteristics, like the front look, resemble those of the R7. The single projector LED headlight is one of the most noticeable visual upgrades on the R15M.

It gives the bike a more aggressive, commanding appearance.

The bike’s badass silhouette is further enhanced with sharp LED DRLs on the sides. The side fairing, tail portion, and LED tail lamp have all undergone alterations. In comparison to the ordinary R15, the skeletal details on the R15 V4 version are more distinct. The exhaust has a familiar appearance, but it now has a metallic heat shield. The air ducts on R15 V4 look to be larger in other revisions. A wider windscreen appears to have been installed on the bike as well. Alloy wheels are covered with Blue paint on both colour versions.

The golden front forks are one of the first things that catch our notice. These are USD forks, which should provide noticeable improvements in handling and braking. And, of course, they give the bike an extra dose of sportiness. In other markets, Yamaha already sells USD forks with R15. R15 uses normal telescopic forks in India.

The R15 V4 / M sports a monocross suspension system in the back. This is most certainly the case for the R15M model. The braking system is believed to be the same as well, with a front disc of 282 mm and a rear disc of 220 mm. R15 V4 comes equipped with dual-channel ABS as standard.

The Yamaha R15 V4 has a 155cc engine, according to the Type Approval Document. This likely is the same as R15 V3. However, the R15M variant’s power output is listed at 13.5 kW (18.35 ps). This is significantly less than the R15’s 13.7 kW (18.6 ps).

Electronic fuel injection and innovative Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology are included in the motor. This contributes to the production of 18.5 PS of power and 14.1 Nm of torque. A 6-speed constant mesh transmission is linked to the engine.

Disc brakes on both ends are used for braking, and dual-channel ABS is included as standard. A revamped completely digital LCD instrument console with Yamaha’s Y-Connect communication feature and Bluetooth, Traction control and Quick shifter are among the other new features.

Metallic Red, Dark Knight, and Racing Blue are the three colour options for the 2021 R15 V4. Ex-showroom, the prices are Rs 1.68 lakh, Rs 1.69 lakh, and Rs 1.73 lakh. Silver with blue accents is available on the R15M model. It costs Rs 1.78 lakh ex-showroom. A limited-edition Monster MotoGP variant in black is available, with a price tag of Rs Rs 1.8 lakh

Other entry-level sports bikes, such as the Suzuki Gixxer SF and the incoming KTM RC 125, compete with the Yamaha R15.

The Aerox 155, which will be Yamaha’s flagship scooter, and an update was also unveiled.
