Samsung showed off its new Galaxy Z Fold 4 at their Unpacked event. This high-end foldable phone’s modified design should make its phone mode easier to use than that of previous models. Plus, it’s getting new software that takes advantage of its foldable screen, along with routine upgrades to the processor and camera. The South Korean giant claims both devices feature customizable form factors, tailored experiences, and upgraded performance.

The new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 is said to offer an upgraded camera experience, a larger battery, and expanded customization while maintaining an ultra-compact design. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is the first foldable to ship with Android 12L, which is an OS designed by Google for large-screen devices.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 are claimed to be more durable than ever, with Armor Aluminum frames and hinge cover along with exclusive Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the cover screen and rear glass. The durability of the main screen panel is also enhanced, thanks to the optimized layer structure to help reduce damage from external shock. They’re even IPX8-rated for water resistance.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 sports a 6.2-inch HD+ cover Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with 2316 x 904 pixels resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. There is a 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and an in-screen camera for selfies and video chats. The foldable is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 chipset coupled with Adreno GPU. The phone packs 12GB RAM paired with 256GB/512GB/1TB storage that is not expandable. It runs on Android 12L-based OneUI custom skin out of the box.
Moving to optics, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 has triple cameras on the back, comprising a 50MP primary camera with Dual Pixel AF, OIS, and f/1.8, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 10MP telephoto camera with PDAF OIS, a 3X optical zoom, and f/2.4 aperture. The phone has a 4MP in-screen camera for selfies and video chats and a 10MP sensor on the outer screen with f/2.4 aperture and 85-degree FoV for selfies and video chats.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is said to pack a 4,400mAh battery with 25W fast charging support and reverse wireless charging. The foldable is equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security and has S Pen support. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, and USB Type-C port for charging and data sync. The phone has an IPX8 rating for water resistance.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 measures 130.1 x 155.1 x 6.3mm (unfolded) and weighs 263 grams. Android 12L makes the UI much easier to use. There’s a new Taskbar that will allow users to get more done on the move. It provides a layout similar to a PC and offers access to favorite and recent apps. There are new gestures that will instantly switch full-screen apps to pop-up windows or split.
Samsung’s partnerships with Google and Microsoft take multitasking to the next level. Google apps, including Chrome and Gmail, now support drag-and-drop, allowing users to quickly copy and paste links, photos, and more from one app to another.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 has a 6.7-inch Dynamic 2X AMOLED display with 2640 x 1080 pixels resolution, a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, a center-positioned punch-hole cutout, and symmetrical bezels. There’s a 1.9-inch secondary AMOLED screen on the back panel with 260 x 512 pixels resolution. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset paired with up to 8GB RAM with 128GB/256GB/512GB storage options. The phone runs on Android 12-based OneUI 4.1 custom skin.
The Samsung Galaxy Flip Z 4 has a 3,700mAh battery with 25W charging, which means a slim improvement over the Flip 3. The phone has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security. Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, and USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer. The phone will have an IPX8 rating for water resistance.
Moving to optics, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 is said to have dual cameras on the back, comprising a 12 MP wide-angle camera with Dual Pixel AF, OIS, and f/1.8 and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens. There is a 10MP front camera sensor with an f/2.4 aperture and 80-degree FoV for selfies and video chats. The phone weighs just 187 grams and measures 71.9 x 165.2 x 6.9mm (when unfolded) and 71.9 x 84.9 x 17.1mm (when folded).
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 comes in Gray-green, Beige, and Phantom Black color options, while the Flip 4 is available in Bora Purple, Graphite, Pink Gold, and Blue colors.
