Material You is a new feature in Android 12 that automatically customises icon colours, menu text, and other aspects of the phone to match your wallpaper. Long-press on the Home screen and pick Wallpaper & style to see the Material You in action. Then, either uses the phone’s stock options or select a photo from your files. Android will allow you to choose a colour that matches the background once you’ve chosen a photo.

A new one-handed mode may go unnoticed, but it’s a feature that might have a significant impact on how you use your phone. If you use large-screen phones like the Galaxy S21 Ultra, this is a good phone to have. The objective is to create a new one-handed mode that makes tapping a fast settings tile or a notification considerably easier. Go to Settings > System > Gestures > One-Handed mode to enable one-handed mode.

If you enjoy playing games on your Android phone, you’ll appreciate the dedicated ‘Game mode.’ Native gaming mode’s main notion is that it disables notifications and other distractions while you’re playing games. OnePlus and Samsung have incorporated game modes into their phones, but Android 12 includes it as a standard feature. You must first go to Settings to enter Game Mode. After that, there are Notifications, Do Not Disturb, and Schedules. On that screen, you’ll see options like ‘Flip to Shhh’ on Pixel and others where Do Not Disturb is instantly implemented.

Google gives you the choice to switch off your microphone and camera access in Android 12. The goal is to provide you with complete control over how your phone’s microphone and camera are used. In the Permissions settings panel, there is a new kill switch for both. In the notification shade, the feature is also available as a fast tile.

In Android 12, there’s a new Calculator app that features the Material You style. The rest of the user interface is significantly influenced by the layout. The calculator app has been updated to include rounded borders and round keys. In addition, you have three options in the settings: a bright and dark theme, as well as the system default.
